Video corruption

Happened in Windows 7 and Vista X64

4 times in the past 3 days colorful bars and bam the laptop locks up.

I was just on with Dell tech support and the lappy is behaving nicely.

Dell seems to think that it's a softwre problem

Could it be just a software? Video drivers?

When diags are ran there aren't any problems.

As soon as a forced shut down and restart the problem is gone.

Seems to only happen within a few minutes of startup.

I believe that the video is going to die on me.

Any ideas?

Since its happening it 2 differnt OSes that may rule out a driver issue. but try to instlal new drivers anyway. If the problem presists then there is an issue with the video. Be it overheating or the onboard video is going bad.

It started happening in the bios, so I think drivers can be ruled out.

Dell is doing an rma. Hopefully will get it fixed.
