I've been considering replacing the stock HSF on my MSI RX9800-Pro with an aftermarket cooling solution. I looked at the ATI Silencer 1 for awhile, but I think I've decided to go with the Zalman VF700. My two possible buying scenarios break down as follows, which would you recommend:

1) Zalman VF700-AlCu with AS5

2) Zalman VF700-Cu

Other) Cu and AS5 even though it costs more

Basically, is the Cu version worth the price premium over the AlCu? Is the added weight of the pure copper cooler something to worry about?

When I buy my X800XL and the Zalman cooler I'm going to use the Ceramique just to be safe. I don't want to risk shorting anything.

i use AS5 with VF700 on my X800XL. I'd say you gotta be really clumbsy to mess up.

Well, I'm just a little scared. I put AS 5 on my 5900 Ultra. There were caps all over near the memory modules and stuff. It was a bitch getting it on the front and the back and then putting the HSFs on the front and back.

i was a little concerned at first coz i heard about how conductive the AS5 is. Only after i remove the stock XL cooler i realized how hard it is to mess up. the contacting surface is really small and there's nothing near it. AS5 doesn't apply to the memory medules.

So it seems like most feel I should go with the AlCu and AS5? Or should I just stick with the included thermal grease?
