Video Conversion help Needed

I know this is not a video coversion forum but i was needing some help. i have some Xvid avi's that i want to place on dvd. i've had no problem coverting them the audio and video sync ok bit the english subtiles (audio is in japanese) are croped on the bottom so you can only see half of them. help me please
