Video conference software for the pda?

I'm not sure which forum to post this in, so please forgive.
My 3 yr old son is going to be needing a heart operation in Boston (we live in NY)
and the recovery period is about 1 1/2 - 2 months.
This will mean that my wife will need to be away from home that long time.

Being a techie, I was wondering if there is a way to videoconference via a handheld device to us (most importantly the other kids, that will dread missing here) via the internet to our home.
Verizon wireless has high speed internet , and there are phones / pda 's with video capture, so the question is is there is pda software to video conference?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

thanks

First off, I hope your son pulls through. I know this kind of thing can be extremely stressful.

I don't know if any of the newer WinCE-based PDAs can do videoconferencing (wouldn't they need a video camera on the PDA?) I've seen phones that can record and send/receive videos (slowly), but not ones that can do it in real time.

Can you get a laptop and some sort of broadband service? It would be trivial to do it like that. Why the requirement for a phone/PDA?
