video compression

I'm capturing video from an ATI TV Wonder VE using the ATI TV program that came with it. I have it set up to use MPEG-2 compression. After recording, I can play the video with media player fine. It says the codec it's using is the Cyberlink SP Video Codec and the Cyberlink Audio Codec. For some reason, I can't open this file in Nandub to edit it. I get a "Pack synchronization error" I also can't open it with FlaskMPEG to convert it to an AVI. Anyone have any suggestions of how to change the compression type of this file so I can edit it with Nandub?

I don't know y u use mpeg2 in the first place I would just go straight fro raw avi to divx 🙂 Try Virtual Dub, see if that program helps.
