I just got a new 30" widescreen CRT HDTV (only cost $230, so while it wasn't the 40" LCD I wanted, it'll do for a while). Anyways, whats the cheapest way to get component output to the TV from a PC. I know there's the ATI adapter, is there any cheaper route (possibly a card with an adapter already included?)

Do you have a videocard for the computer already? If so, are you sure there isn't an adapter for it?

That's what I use in my MCE box for component out. Looks great on my 32" tube EDTV.

Needs to be either PCI or AGP not PCI-E

Yes. I have an GFX 5200

does it have HDMI?
there are DVI -> HDMI cables.

Nope, just three composite ins, and one component. Like my OP says, $230 couldn't beat it.

My 7900 GT KO came with a component cable set to hook it up to HDTV units. I've only used it once, but it worked great.

What about this? Its only $10 and looks like exactly what you need.

Yeah, but I need to know what if nonBBA cards will work with it

That is a straight converter. It will work with ANYTHING that has DVI out and needs to be converted to component.

No, it won't. It has to be used on a supported ATI card and options need to be set in the driver. I used to use it.

OP, it will work with non-built by ATI cards, as long as they are on the supported cards list.

Local best buy redid their floor display and was getting rid of a bunch of floor models. It was $500 at 60% off. The Antenna connector is 'missing' seems to be ripped out, but I bought a best buy 4 year warranty for $60 that will cover any other issue.

Yeah, that will only work for the cards listed, but doesn't have to be BBA.
