Video cards - resale value?

I am thinking about buying one of these: 9600 xt, a 9800 pro, or 6600gt AGP because I have an old Dell computer (1.5 P4, 384 megs ram). I plan to build an entirely new system in February, but i'd like a card to hold me over until then. I'm wondering which would have the best resale value.

question 2: would a 6600gt be severely bottlenecked by my cpu/ram?

What games do you want to play? How much money are you willing to pay to "rent" the card?

The 6600GT can probably be resold for $75-95 in a few months. Your CPU won't fully use it, but in some games it still could look the best.

A used 9800 won't lose too much value and is probably the best choice for price/performance given your CPU.

well...if I was buying a used graphics card from you...I would chose the 6600gt. Its hard to tell if you platform would bottleneck that card or not..really dependent on what application you are using at the time. From a gaming standpoint I would say yes..the platform would bottleneck performance more than the Graphics card.

you should be able to play everything out now with a 9800 pro or 6600gt (with the 6600 leading of coarse). I was playing BF2 on med settings with my 9800pro a few weeks ago..i just sold a 9800pro for $85 the other day here on the trade forums, not sure how much they will drop in a few months

I would say it's really between the 9800Pro and the 6600GT.
It will depend on which one you can get for the best price/value.

This doesn't mean that the 9800Pro is the better value, it just depends
on how good of a deal you can get it for (ie. if it's only $20-30 more for the
6600GT, then I would go with the GT).

I'd go wit the 6600GT.. As stated before, it may be slightly bottlenecked by your CPU, but at the same time, you can turn around and sell it for more than the others are worth, OR you could even keep and use in another machine, etc, As it is not a bad card overall. The system I put together for my father uses a 6600GT, which he just finished the game FEAR on, without a hitch.
