Video card with good video playback

I'm looking for a video card with very good video playback for DVDs. I'm not interested in playing games at all. :Q

anyway, i was looking into the matrox g550 or g650. is there any difference between those two cards with regards to the video playback? any other cards with good video playback out there?

These days, not really. Anything half-decent that you buy will give good playback. A cheap Radeon (7500 or something similar) will give a good picture, and ATI, although not as much as Matrox, always have good 2D quality.
If you don't play any games at all, and just want excellent 2D, then Matrox is probably the way to go.

ATi usually seems to have the best image quality for DVD playback, but I honestly can't see any difference between my 9700 Pro and my GeforceFX 5200 nor my Geforce4 Ti4200 for DVD/DivX playback. Seems like they all do fairly well. If your going to be doing video out to your TV, then I think ATi is the better card.

If you really don't mind cutting performance for gaming, get yourself one of them ATi 9000 ViVo's for about $60 or the All-In-Wonder 7500 for about $100.
