Hi.. I have a 1.2Ghz AMD, 1 Gb RAM and an ATI 7000 64Mb video card.

I just bought and installed Call of Duty last night and it runs like a dog. Is it my video card? If so, what should I be looking for as a replacement?

TIA,
robert.

Yup. A GeForce 4 4200 or Radeon 9600 Pro would run it fine. What kind of money are you willing/able to spend?

Call of Duty runs great on my Radeon 8500LE, but that's at 1024x768. I would get a Radeon 9600 or nVidia TI4600. Both are around $125. (Used or OEM)

great info and fast replies!

so.. anything above a 9600 Pro should do?

I'm not sure how much I want to spend - probably about 100 or so. I just started looking and I really haven't kept up with video card technology as I used to.

Any comments regarding ATI vs GForce cards?

There are plenty comments regarding the 2 in other threads, but for a $100 budget I'd figure a GeForce 4 is the way to go. A 64mb 4200 is just under the $100 level at Newegg, but if you shop around you might be able to find a 128mb version. I also see that with a $10 discount from Newegg you can get a Sapphire 9600(non-pro) for just under $100, which would give you some DirectX 9 goodness.
