I'm going to upgrade my aging G200 very soon and can't decide on which card to get. I'm leaning towards the ATI Radeon 64 VIVO but am concerned about the driver situation. I would like TV out but not at the expense of reliability. I also like the 2D performance of the Radeon as opposed to the GForce but the driver thing with ATI has me concerned. What about the Kryo II? Any experiance with this new card out there, drivers, etc.? Should I wait? I'm looking to spend $200 or less on a card. Thanks for any help.

Whoa, you run a G200 with THAT system? If ou are in Win98, the Radeon is perfect. Win2k, the drivers aren't as mature, so games aren't as fast, but stability wise the drivers are very good (for me and my system mind you). The Kyro II I don't know of too many people that have it yet though, so the verdicts are all based on the reviews.

I'd go for a 32MB DDR-SDRAM GeForce2 GTS. A very fast card and cheaper than the 64MB version. This card has Hardware T@L (not programmable, though) and is very overclockable.

Just wanted to add that there are some rumors Matrox is going to release their first new video card in two years at the upcoming CeBIT...according to the rumors it's called "Condor II" and not G800...dunno whether one can trust the rumors, but if they are true there might be a new player in the market soon.

If you are used to excellent sharpness, you will be a
bit disappointed with an NVidea card as compared to a
Matrox, as I was when I changed from a G400 to a
Geforce2 MX in order to get better performance on
more recent games.

I have heard that Matrox is coming out with a new card soon but after my driver/opengl experiences with my G200 and all the driver problems that the G400 had, I don't think I will be getting a Matrox product again. I do however like the 2D quality of my G200 but the gaming part of the equation has been very problematic in the 3 years that I have had the card. I just installed the latest drivers and bios from Matrox and OpenGL will not work any more, locks up as soon as the game starts, and it's too much of a pain to reinstall the old bios and drivers. I'm hoping the next card I get will be more OpenGL friendly the the G200 has been. Still when the card was operating properly it wasn't too bad for a three year old card. I would be concerned about the 2D capabilities of the GForce cards, people seem to get ghosting in the text with cards based on that chip. Thanks for everyones imput.
