video card weight limits

I was looking into the Zalman VF700Cu and I was wondering if there was any sort of maximum weight spec for video card coolers as there is for cpu coolers.

there is a max weight, but it's no where close to it...until newer vid cards come out that requires intense cooling...

no idea, but your card will sag alil bit with the zalman, along with many other aftermarket heatsink.

I don't understand why so many people worry about the weight of CPU and GPU coolers? Don't you think a reputable company like Zalman goes through enough R&D before they release something like this to the public? I highly doubt Zalman would release a heatsink that is going to damage your video card or CPU because it is too heavy. Just don't shake your computer all over the place or throw it around, and you'll be fine. Handle it with care, and nothing will happen.

I am honestly tired of so many people worrying about "Oh the copper version is too heavy, blah blah...." It's all BS. Till someone actually shows me some proof of there copper heatsink damaging anything, then why so many posts of people worried?

It's more about the structural support for the card. If you've got a 1kg heatsink hanging off your 7800GTX with a single screw keeping it from falling and it's already bending... Then you've got a problem..

Just don't shake the case violently like UPS does.

Zalman 7700Cu + Antec Phantom 500W + UPS = Funky looking box.

The Zalman VF700Cu is safe for a stable case.

Like most large heatsinks, Id not throw my case about with it still attached.

It might be something to worry about if you move it often. If you are concerned, spend some time analyzing the case and PSU. You may be able to make a simple brace with a splint of some kind, or some kind of cord.
