VIdeo Card Warranty

i just got this video card, and id like to know(if anyone knows) what lifetime warranty does it have...can i overclock it or something? wat are the restrictions of this warranty...i figured asking here in case someone knows before i go to the website to find out..

I assume you mean the eVga 8800GTS in your sig ? If so go to eVga's website and find out

Usually lifetime warranties reffer to the availability of the card for replacement. When the company runs out of the card you have the warranty is over eVga however usually tries to give you a similar card when the exact model you have is no longer in stock.

Yes, but they will try to give you a card that retails in the same pricepoint as your current card even if it performs worse than the card you're replacing. For instance many owners of 7900GT cards are getting 8600GTs which perform far worse in every aspect.

They won't know unless you modify the card BIOS.

As if it's EVGA's fault NVIDIA can't put out a decent mid range or a card between 8600GTS and 8800GTS. They will give you a similar card, but since the OP has an 8800GTS, I don't think he has to worry about it. As far as warranty goes, usually registering within 30 days gets you the lifetime warranty. And warranty covers everything but physical damage to the card, so overclock it all you want.

just a point...i got my ram through rma from ocz due to the lifetime warranty...i used to have ddr2 667mhz 2 gigs and used to fail memtest big time...i pulled a big one on ocz, walked in for the exchange, got the same ram back and told the guy it didnt work, he then asked me to call tech support to ask for a compatible model...i chose the best models and they had that one in stock so i got it...i never actually talked to tech support...

Just be lucky they don't test them and say "you're full of it" or something similar.

It is EVERY manufacturer's right to refuse an RMA based on the fact that they believe they are getting scammed. Although most will just go ahead to avoid dealing with someone. There is always a chance they will say "hey wait a minute, these work fine. Your motherboard is messed up sorry...go talk to them"

First thing... to be eligible for the EVGA lifetime warranty, you have to:

#1 Keep the invoice on hand and be the original purchaser

#2 Register the card with EVGA on their web site within one month of invoice date

I used to think that all those "lifetime warranty" cards were just a gimmick because I mean, really, who uses their card for a "lifetime" or even a couple of years.

Well, I've been proven wrong and now I wish I had bought a "lifetime" warranty card.

I bought a Radeon X1900XT 512MB last year for $500 (March 2006) and it died just over a year later (June 2007) after the warranty had expired. The card weren't OC or anything, and this is the first time ever a graphic card had failed me before my intended upgrade. I had to hijacked the 7600GT from my HTPC to use it temporary until next-gen cards come out (hopefully soon).

So yeah, the next card I buy will definitely have a lifetime warranty or at least 2-3 years warranty since that will be my new upgrade cycle.
