how does one assign part of system memory to be used by video card for better display performance.
Please give detailed explanation.

That would be your AGP aperture. You can set it in your bios. It is usually set at 64MB as default. Don't expect much of a performance improvement by allocation more ram though. It is usually best to play around with it and see what setting gives you the most performance. More doesn't always mean better in this case.
