I love my 6600GT (AGP) but i'm considering to upgrade in the next few months.
My budget definately will not allow a high-end card but...
I'm on the "green team" but I am amazed at the specs on the X850XT (PE as well).
I was thinking of temporarily using a card from the "red team".
With the AMD/ATI alliance....Being an Intel guy, I would want to stay on the "green team" in the long run.
Here is my situation...
I have ordered my new processor (D 915), motherboard (ASRock 775Dual-VSTA) and hard drive (WD Caviar 250 GB, 16MB, SATA II).
The motherboard carries full AGP support but the PCIe support is only 4x.
Now...If i were to buy an X850XT (or PE)...
1. What performance loss would I get running it at PCIe 4x instead of PCIe 16x?
2. What performance difference would I see running it at PCIe 4x over AGP 8x?
