Video card upgrade question.

I would just swap them. It will find the new card and make you re-boot, then it will be fine.

This doesn;t allways work with any video card, but from my experience, any video card the Catylst series supports seems to work. I have done it many times at home mixing 9100,8500,9700pro,9800pro and x800pro.

That should work, but I would suggest uninstalling the 9800 and then installing the X800. That way you don't have any extra devices installed that are just disabled.

I agree with Comparisonman. Going from 1 generation to another I would definately: uninstall control panel, uninstall drivers, (optional but recommended: boot directly into safemode and run driver cleaner for ATI), shutdown, install card, install cats.
