Right now, I've got a 3-4? year old rig that's running E6400 Core 2 Duo and a GeForce Ultra 8800 and Corsair 620 PSU(Forget the exact model. Bought it for single card graphics and CPU overclocking at the time) Oh yeah, I run 1080p right now. No plans beyond maybe a second 1080p screen sometime later.
I want to play a few of the current games at decent graphics level(Honestly, beyond Deus Ex:HR and Skyrim I haven't even entertained playing anything beyond MMO's(Hilariously enough Rift taxes my computer...le sigh.) because the shoddy state of my current system. Those two being reasons for upgrading) but after reading the boards for a few minutes it's been pretty much stated a new 7XXX series of graphics cards are coming out the beginning of next year.
I plan on buying a new motherboard(Any suggestions there is welcome but I could probably figure out that one, just need to stop waffling.) and 2500K chip to overclock. So saturating the CPU shouldn't be an issue.
With new graphics cards coming out, which GPU would you get to "tide you over" till they come out with the new hotness or lower the prices to make buying another higher end old busted GPU more tolerable? I'd hate to wait and hate life for 6 months, but on the other token I don't want to pay 300+ dollars for a board to find out that I could pay almost the same amount for something that puts out a lot more polygons.
I have a price range up to 300 dollars but would be hard pressed to pay that unless I felt the reasons to spend the max amount would be worth it now and in the future.
Any suggestions? If you need more details I can fill it in when I get home.
Thanks!
