Video Card upgrade in late October/November -- best deal?

I've started to contemplate upgrades that I want to make for the November release of Unreal Tournament 3. My current video card is a Connect3D x800 GTO that I purchased for $137 shipped back in November of 2005 (unlocked to 16 pipes and overclocked to x800xt speeds).

Consequently, I'm probably going to need a new video card if I want to play Unreal Tournament 3 at a decent FPS at 1024 x 768. From what I can tell, it looks like the current best values are:

ATI x1950 Pro (around $145 shipped)

ATI x1950 XT (around $175 shipped)

nVidia 8800 GTS (around $275 shipped)

Would it make more sense to get one of the few x1950 XT's that I've been able to find before the disappear, or should I wait and hope for a 8800 GTS price drop?

There probably won't be a price drop, but there might be new cards from Nvidia in November (8900 series) for the same price as the current 8800s.

I'm going to wait until the G92 release to consider buying a video card. Like you, I was strongly considering an X1950XT. In the end I decided the performance gain wouldn't be quite worth it - I only upgrade when my games are really running slow on the lowest settings I can bear (15 FPS in Battlefield 2 at medium/low settings on my old 2100+ XP and 9600).

Well according to mark reign he said people could play UT2007 in high 1920x1200 or 1600x1200 with a x1900 or 7900. Epic games are very scalable. They make sure it runs on lowest end machine.

According to rumors and info seen on Fudzilla.com and TheInquirer.net some time ago (yes, yes, I know...):

By the time October/November is here, there will probably be a new NVidia upper-midrange card (think 8800GS or 8900GS) that will slot in the gaping hole above the 8600GTS and below the 8800GTS 320. Also, we can expect a respin of the 8600 series on 65mm process with higher clocks.
