Video Card Upgrade Advice

I just got me a new 20" Wide screen LCD Monitor and i have the feeling my current video card is not going to cut it at med/high graphic settings in the new video games, problem being that my mother board is AGP only, possible upgrade paths include S939 PCIE board and current gen card, AGP Video card upgrade, or complete system upgrade.

Current System:

Dual core Opteron 165 @ 2.4 GHz
1.5 GB DDR 400
ATI X800 XT PE AGP
MSI Neo Platinum 2 S939 AGP Board

Most 20inch LCD monitors are native 1680x1050, so a x1950xt agp (when they get released 350.00$?) or a new pci-e board and card. I'd sell my system off and buy a new core 2, motherboard, ram, video card and power supply. Oh yea Vista too.
