My cousin has a Dell dimension l866r, with a pIII (866 MHz, as the name implies) and 512 mb of ram, he is currently running on a radeon 7500 64mb PCI card, what would be the BEST possible PCI upgrade card? And could you provide a link to yor findings/opinion, thanks! :)

Find one of the following for the cheapest possible.

Any cheap Ti4200/4400/4600
ATI 8500LE/9100
ATI 9000 128mb
GeForce4MX

In that order from best to worst.

For PCI, Visiontek Radeon 9100 128MB (250MHz core, 250MHz memory) is your best bet. Should be close to $50, if you can find it. TigerDirect used to carry them, but apparently no more. Maybe you can pick one up used in FS/FT?

Mloot benchmarked a bunch of PCI cards and posted his results in this forum. The 9100 came out well ahead, but he was using a Dell P4 2.4GHz, IIRC, far faster than your PC. Regardless, I think the Radeon 9100 will still be your best bet, and you aren't going to get much cheaper than $50 for a decently fast PCI card.
