Video Card Up ...or side grade

I wanted to hop on the Microcenter deal where you can buy an EVGA video card a get a free mobo...im currently on AGP using a 6800nu....would it be worth it to purchase the $99 7600GTS and get the free pci-e mobo??? i heard it was a decent model and its worth another $100 by itself.... lmk thanks

3000+ @ 2.4
2gigs ddr400

the 7600GT and the 6800 128MB with 325Mhz Core 700Mhz Ram are very similar in performance i dont know about the 7600GTS, what pci-e mobo are we talking about? for a mere 99 bucks, i'd probably do it, even though its a sidegrade in my view. its a hell of a lot cheaper than spending around 100 mobo, 200 on a 7900GT which would be an actual upgrade that we would notice, i also have agp mobo with a 6800. Except i am still not sure if a sidegrade would be worth it. wouldnt it be better to just wait longer until you have the cash to replace everything, might as well right? thats what i'm doing since i have a64 3200 s939, 1GB DDR400 (i have another gig, just didnt put it in), and a 6800...

hmm, i would get it if i want to keep with my cpu, ram, hdd, case etc.. if you want to do it, go for it, its 99 bucks, not an unbearable expense to me but it may be to you. if you can live with it, and it tempts you that much buy it. it will not get cheaper than that.

The 7600gts is slightly slower than the 7600gt (im pretty sure it's clocked at 550mhz core, which is 10mhz slower than a stock GT) and it has the same memory speed iirc.

The 6800nu isnt anywhere near the 6800gt or ultra in performance -- it's closer to a 6600gt in performance. The 7600gt outperforms the 6800ultra in most cases, so it'll destroy the 6800nu (especially since the 6800 only has 128mb vram, which really isnt enough for most newer games) I would say go for it! It'll be a nice upgrade 🙂

Yep, sell your old stuff and its basically a free upgrade to PCI Express. I did something similar when I switched over to a PCIE motherboard.

its comparable to a 6800ultra...... but as for the mobo evga Uatx
I think that you realize that 'BlackJesu5' and 'AFurry Reptile' compared the 7600 to a 6800Ultra. Since the closest card to your is the 6800GT AGP (on the list), here is a better link:

That should give you a better idea of things.

6600GT is closer to a 6800NU

Anyways, 7600GTS should be a very good decent upgrade, and its so cheap and takes you to pcie!
