video card trouble? or mobotherboard

Every so often when i try to open a new program or in the middle of gaming my computer will shut off. its not overheating i'm sure of it. my mobo is a gigabyte GA-7S748-L, could it possibly be my motherboard not liking being on 8x? or could it be my video card? or something else.

specs:
amd 2500
1gb pc2700
GA-7S748-L gigabyte
ati 9600xt

Could be power supply, you have checked the event logs right?

it may be my power supply, its only 350watts and i have 5 fans and a dvd drive plus everything mentioned above. anyone else think it could be that? my event logs doesn't have anything in them beside dcom errors which i hear is a bug in xp.
