Video card temperature monitor???

Sooo, I'm going to get into overclocking, but I want to overclock my video card as well as my CPU. I have an MSI 6600GT and an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe, but HOW do I find out my video card temperature? Thanks.

nVidia's control panel will show you the temps, but you can also use RivaTuner (and I believe MSI ships with a monitoring tool specifically for their cards).

Whoa, that doesn't look like my control panel. I have one with a tray icon and different things. It's called the Nview desktop manager...?

Right Click on Desktop>Select Properties>Select Settings>Select Advanced>Select 6600GT tab

ok, right click on your desktop. go to properties. go to settings tab at top. go to advanced on the bottom. click msi nvidia 6600gt tab at the top. click temperature settings on the left side.

There are user interface, effects, zoom, hot keys, mouse, tools, desktop management, profiles, windows, applications, and desktops tabs, but no settings tab...and for me, it's rightclick, nview desktop manager submenu, then properties.

ok make sure u have the latest forceware drivers. (they're at like 77.something now.)then get coolbits 2.0 (choose a mirror at the bottom).

after u get coolbits follow my neat GUIDE to finding where the tepurature monitor is

Your walkthrough missed the fact that you have to click the advanced tab before you'll ever see the 6600GT tab. 🙂

Ooooooh, it turns out my Nvidia tray icon went to something other than Display Properties. I found it in the Control Panel. Thanks for the help, everyone. Also, does the "core slowdown threshold" mean that that's the temperature when the voltage to the card is auto-bumped down? If so, why is it set by default to 127°C?? Won't that be a LITTLE too high, or can vidcards run at much higher temperatures than CPUs? BTW, nice pic, SonicIce. 😀

Edit: Also, I have 4 fans, 2 of which run from Molex, not fan connectors. Is there any way, other than using a stamp kit with thermometers, etc, to control fan speed automatically based on CPU/vidcard temperature?

Weeee: Edit #2: Is there any easy way to see my vidcard temp in my tray or somewhere very visible like the CPU temp is visible with speedfan?
