Video Card Suggestions?

I have an Epox EP-8KHAL AMD Athlon 1600+ with 512 MB 2100 CL 2.5 DDR Crucial Ram.

I am wanting to spend no more than $100. I currently have a Radeon LE (32DDR).

Thanks for the suggestions.

Depend on what games you play. If your looking for pure speed(fps), get the g4 ti4600. If IQ is important to you, Ati is a better bet.

I would go with a 9600pro/xt over a 4600... 4600 is way to old at this point.

you can maybe get a a9700 pro for around 130

I'm in the same situation, looking for a video card that is around $100. Anybody know if the GeForce FX5600XT is a good card? Newegg has it for 86.

Right now I'm running doom 3 on a 1.4 ghz athlon w/ 512 ram and geforce mx420. There are occasional hitches even on 800x600 and medium settings (possibly low too). I don't want a card just for this game since I don't play too often but I imagine halflife requirements will be stiff too.

Pardon my ignorance but which of the three numbers is most important: core clock, memory clock or RAMDAC? So for Ti4600 it's 275 MHz Core Clock, 550 MHz Memory Clock, 350MHz internal RAMDAC

Fx5700: 235, 400, ?Ramdac

So 4600ti better than fx5700 right?

ignore ramdacs

you need to think of 3 things. Core clock, Memory clock, memory bus width

benchmarks

Thanks for the great link. In the benchmark the ti4600 and radeon 9600pro ran equally well on UT2k4. I think for the new games though the frame rates may suffer. Maybe I should try for a used 9700 or 9700pro. Unfortunately, 9800/pros that are used are still outside of the $100 budget.
