Video card suggestion?

I have a off the shelf HP a6400f pc with a Radeon X1900 card in it.
Most games I can max out but lately its been crashing my pc.So I would like to upgrade my card...any ideas?I upgraded my supply to 400w but I'm thinking that is still too weak for most cards.
Any help would be great.

Assuming you want best settings, what game do you plan to play, and how long do you want this card to last you?

Bad company 2,farcry 2.,Call of duty 4...would hope to get a few years out of it

How much do you have to spend and do you have a PCI-E slot? A 400w is likely fine if it's a good brand.
