Video Card Suggestion for Medal of Honor, Allied Assault.

My brother is looking to get a new video card JUST to play Medal of Honor, Allied Assault.

He's never been a big gamer, but his wife got the game for him over the Christmas holiday, and he's been playing it non-stop ever since!

I can't find any benches on this game.

Vid card suggestions?

I was thinking TI4600 or TI4200 or Radeon 9500/9700.

Thanks.

i currently use a 9500 and a 9700 on it (which or course work great) but before had a gf3 and a gf2 gts. the gf3 was fine as long as texture settings weren't too high and you played at 1024. i would advise at least a 4200 tho.

It depends on what settings your brother wants to use but if he wants to use 1600 x 1200 x 32 then he'll need a Radeon 9700 Pro in order for the game to stay smooth all the time.

Also what CPU does he have? MOHAA is very CPU limited, just like most Quake 3 engined games.

I play mine on this computer
p4 1.8
384 mb pc800
Geforce 3 64mb ddr

And the games runs fine on 1024x768 with everything max on on except Models are set to high and effects to high. Its a beutiful game. Im actually getting rid of my geforce if your interested

Any of those cards will play it very nicely. The Radeons(assuming they are Pro versions) will offer the best levels of video quality, though both GeForce 4s will look mighty fine.

This is how he will get sucked into gaming. He will likely like Mohaa and want to get another game once he realizes how fun it was. Thats how it starts. The wife will wish she never got the game for him 🙂

its a quake3 engine, i think. any thing above a geforce2 GTS and even a gefore 256 should run it fairly well, if you have a halfway decent CPU

This is the first game he's ever really played a lot, and I tell you, as soon as he gets home from work, he's playing!

He RARELY upgrades his system. I helped him put together a AMD system a year or two ago, he didn't want to spend a lot on a cpu so I told him to get a Duron 1000 for $39 and upgrade when things get cheaper. He's still running the Duron!

I convinced him that he'll do a lot better in the game if he upgrade his Radeon VE video card! I came over to his house to check it out and he must be running like 15fps! I told him that it's unplayable like that.

He's reluctant to spend more than $100 so I think he's going to pick up a Ti4200. He's not going to believe how much faster it's going to be. He'll be plenty happy if he can get decent framerates at 1024x768.

Look for "arbitrader" out there playing the game. That's my 44 year old brother who should be spending more time with his wife!

Thanks for the advice guys.

i play it on my 8500le 128mb all day..not as smooth as the hercules 9700pro i had but it works fine @1024...
i paid under $100 for my video card it depends on what ur budget looks like if hes not a huge gamer why spend 300-400?????????
