Hi!

Just rig myself a
Athlon64 3000+
Asus A8N-SLI
Winfast PX6600GT
1G RAM

I'm trying to play the game Close Combat and in the game setup there's that AA stuff and other settings which i do not understand. Where can i find resources to understand those terms? Or anyone care to explain to me... i'm playing now at 1280x1024 resolution at my Samsung 713n 17" LCD screen.

resolution : make images more crisppier but sacrificing performance (frames per second)
AA or antialiasing : makes the edges more smoother in games, or no more jaggies per se. But also sacrificing performance
Texture : just texture, the higher the texture, the more memory for the game needs to take. same thing..lowering performance

yada yada yada yada, you get the picture :p

so to make the games looks good (sacrificing performance), increase the AA and texture and the rest?

Yup that's right, because textures, particles, physic's engine, lighting, and what not takes alot of processing power, memory space, and loading times if a setup is on everything on high (depending on what kind of games your playing)

well...the answer for that is that card I'm using atm does make a good shot gun hole in my pocket ;). I play RTCW:ET alot, and alway sneed the fps to make good headshots and strafe.....I almost going for a 6800 GT @ new egg for 285 ~ but seeing a hot deal on ati.com for 349.99 for the x850xt, I couldn't pass up since I just pay that amount...whereas I pay tax and shipping for the 6800GT. So a 40 dollar sacrifice is well worth it.

It's ok man, rtcw stands for Return to Castle Wolfenstein...the game or the multiplayer version which still many people plays (even if it's 2-3 years old) is the RTCW: enemy territory. A practically free online multiplayer first person shooter. It's awesome and also a resource whore.
