I have an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, dual heads, 8X AGP card that is going back. I'm looking for a replacement (AGP card) that will have essentially the same power draw, and that will play nice with Windows 7. Any suggestions?

I would suggest you upgrade your motherboard and get a PCIe card, but if you must have AGP, the 4650 is probably the best you can do. For example:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125281

Make sure your PSU can handle the upgrade, though.

That card will probably get double the frame rate of a 9800 Pro (extrapolated from this camparo: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-4650-agp,2383-10.html I assume the 9800Pro is about on par with the X700 Pro.) Power draw is probably similar.

What is the rest of your system? If you have a Dual core processor and are using a nForce3 based motherboard that maybe the issue in Win 7 and not the card itself.

The mobo on this pc is an Intel D875PBZLK with a Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz. I am not lookikng to change this. The 4650 is an AGP 2X card, and is not compatible. I need an AGP Universal graphics card.

Does anyone know how the EVGA GeForce 6200 card compares to the 9800Pro in terms of performance?

The 6200 would be a drop in performance from a 9800 Pro, but how much I don't know off the top of my head. My guess would be on average 15-20%. And yes I did pull those numbers out of thin air.

Also just looking over the technical specs of the board it looks like the 4650 will in fact work but whether you want to try or not is entirely up to you. It is listed as an 8X agp card which your board appears to accept.

if I am not mistaken a 6600gt was around 9800 pro performance so that's about twice the performance of a 6200.

The 4650 appears to be an AGP 2x, which is not compatible with my mobo - according to the mobo info on the Intel site. I need an AGP Universal graphics card.

AGP 2x is ancient. the 4650 came out long after AGP 8x was standard so it has to be an 8x card.

Based upon the picture of the 4650, it will not work in my mobo. It has a different pin arrangement than the 9800 pro and the 6200.

The pinout on the 9800 Pro and 6200 are only to allow for use on both 3.3v and 1.5v AGP slots. Your board and the 4650 both have the 1.5v pinout. If anything, it's a better "fit" than the 9800 Pro.
