Video Card Recommendations

I currently have a Voodoo3 2000 PCI and want to get an AGP(my new motherboard has an AGP 4x slot) and was looking at Hercules only for a manufacturer. I am not sure what the difference between a Geforce2 MX, GTS, and everything else really is. DDR ram is a plus on what card to get. I do some gaming (my Athlon 1200 and Voodoo3 handle that fine now but I like Nvidia) and Photoshop work. Any suggestions based on this? Thanks!

hmmmm....y do you only want hercules??? there are many other good video card manufacturers out there that dont cost as much...but if you do go with hercules, y not go with the kyro II (hercules 3d prophet 4500???)...it offers near gts performance and it only costs around $110, plus it offers great 2d quality

Budget : Kyro 2
Mid : Geforce 2 Pro/Ultra
Top: Geforce 3
Smart: Wait for the Geforce 3 Ultra, Radeon 2, Kyro 3.

Kyro 2 offers near Geforce 2 Ultra performance...

I don't think so. The Kyro2 is about the same as a GTS. In some things it will win. In others it will lose.

I should have mentioned the price range to be around 150 at most. Also my Voodoo3 took a burn from some messed up computer I built and is not really... in good shape. I wouldn't want to sell you something that was crispy on one side!

For your price range, the best bang for the buck, IMO, is the MSI Starforce Pro from newegg. Here is their brief description:
MSI StarForce 831, GeForce2 Pro, 64MB DDR RAM, 5.5 ns. Heat Sink, High Quality Fan and 4 pins TV Out Cable 4X/2X AGP, bundled with 1 S-Video Cable, 1 MSI DVD & 3D Turbo 2000 Utilities, on board (S-Video) TV-out, Retail Box
Their price is $142 with $10 shipping. Should be what you are looking for if you do any 3D gaming. It is only $17 more than I paid for my MSI Starforce 820 (32 MB GTS card) a few months ago. FWIW, I am happy with my GTS, but if I could have had a Pro with 64 MB of 5.5 ns ram for only $17 more, I would have been happier.
🙁
Good Luck, Chuck

If you play the waiting game you never have the top of the line stuff I say buy a Gi-force 3 you will be happy
