Video card recommendation

Hi, Folks:

I'm new to AnandTech. I'm planning on building a new system within the next month or so. I'm looking for recommendations on a good 128MB PCI Express video card (preferably ATI or Nvidia). Nothing crazy expensive, but something that can handle FPS games well (i.e. Far Cry, Call of Duty, etc.). Also, is 256MB of video RAM still overkill for the most part or would games like these welcome the extra memory?

Thanks in advance,
- Bodrey

256mb ram is overkill if you have any less than a 256bit memory interface.
$100-9600 Pro
$150-9600XT
$200-Now-6600GT AGP

$300-Now-6600(plain version)

$400-6800GT

Did you mean $300-Now-6800(plain version)?
