Ok,

so currently i have a single gtx580 i game at 1920x1200. I play BF3, Mafia II, Grand Theft Auto 4. Core i7 920 overclocked at 4ghz with 12gb of RAM. my question is this, the gtx580 was just bought so it can be returned. I got a good deal on it though right at 425 bucks. so should i stick there? look at GTX560 ti sli???, or 6950 cf, or stick with what i got and learn to be happy? i want physx, and would like support for adobe cs5 as well hence why i stick to nvidia, i have a quadro 3800 in there as well as dedicated physx at the moment. and for use in 3d modeling as well of course.

umm dont get 2 cards.. bad idea if you do gain preformance you will lose functionality.. support for sli/cfx or dual gpu's like a 6870x2, 6990 or gtx 590 are all again flaws that would outweigh ur gains.. sit tight bro, as moving up would be in a sense a step back..

is the 7970 worth looking at? the concern there can i run the nvidia and amd drivers together to maintain physx and compatibility with CS5 gpu acceleration?

@Rennocneb,

nvidia doesnt want you useing a amd card, as your main card, and a nvidia card "just" for physX, so thats only supported when you have 2 nvidia cards.

however...

there are hacked drivers that allow you to do so if you want.
So its possible to use a 7970 (main), and say a 460gt for physX.... you just need to work around the limitations nvidia puts in its drivers.
