video card questions

I have an asus a7v133 motherboard. I'm having problems with the agp port. With a 32mb agp video card in it acts like it wants to boot up and then stops. upon reboot it would give me the system info in squiggly lines. I put in a pci vid card and everything is fine. I now have a new 32mb agp card, can I install it without taking out the pci card to see if the agp port is okay? Also does it make any sense for the video to start to work and then stop? This could be a good system if I could get the agp card to work. My pci is only an old 4mb.
