Hello,
I have both DVD players, PowerDVD and WinDVD and under both programs, during DVD playback the cpu usage is quite high (I think) for my system (between 50%-70%) When I enable video acceleration in PowerDVD, the CPU ussage increases, in WinDVD has no effect. The movies play very smmothly, I just want to know what I can do to lower cpu ussage, besides using a hw decoder. I personally prefer software decoding because it has a lot more options. I have enabled the DMA function and installed the Amd Drivers for my motherboard.
My setup is:
MS-6167 motherboard
Amd Athlon thunderbird 850
Visiontek Geforce 2 GTS with 12.41 drivers
SB Live mp3+ 5.1 sound card
IBM DTLA-307015 HDD (primary master)
Seagate ST 310220A HDD (primary Slave)
Creative 8432 CD-RW secondary slave
Samsung SD-612 DVD/CD-rom Secondary master.
Any help appreciated.
