i currently have an ati 7500 video card with s-video out that doesn't work the way i want it. so to remedy this problem i was thinking about buying a cheap ati mach video card (about $5-10 on ebay) with the composite and s-video out, i will use this card only for tv-out. is this even possible and will it cause some kind of conflict?

It's possible. There shouldn't be any conflicts (make sure at least one of your cards is PCI though... you obviously can't have 2 AGP cards).

You might have to switch between one or the other for TV-out/normal monitor use. Or you can use Window's multiple monitor feature and have both display your desktop or extend your desktop across the monitor to the tv.

If the s-video isn't working proper with your present ATI card, what makes you sure an older ATI card is going to be superior? It won't. What problem are you having?

well, i want to output video to my tv via the s-vid, i have an s-vid to composite adapter (which i know works because i've tried it on an older video card which got fried), however the card doesn't recognize the tv. i've already tried to force tv-out by tweaking the registry, but instead it's resulted in both the monitor and tv-out not working. i've read many other discussion boards about ati video cards and some people have said that ati has 2 different kind of s-video tv-out adapters. so i thought instead of paying 15-20 dollars on a dinky adapter, i would go ahead and pay the same price for an older video cards with the outputs that i wanted.
