Video Card purchase debate

I'll list my current setup so suggestions can be better made.

Mobo - Biostar M7NCG 400, Nforce2 /w IGP
Video - Onboard MX graphics with 64MB allocated
RAM - soon to be 2 X 512 PC3200 DDR (dual channel)
CPU - Mobile Athlon Currently running at 11 X 200 (equiv to a Athlon XP 3200+), haven't tried running it higher.

I eventually plan to upgrade my motheraboard to one with PCI-e. As I understand it, if I were to purchase a pricier AGP card now, there won't be any sort of slotket or conversion to use my AGP card in a PCI-e motherboard later down the line. So the issue is, if I'm to shell out a reasonable amount of cash now ($200-$250) on an AGP card, it might only last me a few months till I buy a PCI-e enabled mobo, when I would then need to buy another video card, this time a PCI-e version.

So what would you guys suggest? Getting a low-end AGP card now to hold me over? like a GeForce 5700LE for $58.27 AR, and trying to OC it a bit? Or should I get something like the 6600GT AGP version or a 6800NU/OC?

Reasoning for the planned change to PCI-e, is for an Athlon 64 based mobo, assuming I'll want to replace this processor eventually.

Love to hear your thoughts/suggestions, thanks =)

Edit - Oh, and I want to be able to try out Doom 3, Half-Life 2, Far Cry, Call of Duty, etc. This is why I feel I need to upgrade my onboard video now. Also, I play Everquest & Quake 2 (both mostly fine with what I have now) currently.

Yeah, I guess I tend to be a huge procrastinator about certain things. Never took the time to figure out ebay, probably assigning it much more complication than it deserves. I think I have a paypal account I opened way back when. I take it that paypal is the usual way of money transfers for ebay?

Good pick. I was thinking about suggesting a 9800Pro to you as an interim card, but that BB deal rocks. Good luck with the rebate. 🙂

Hmm, will Best Buy pricematch to Outpost? Outpost is also Fry's, so prices should be the same no? That would make the card essentially $150 from Best Buy, assuming you'd pay $55 for HL2 anyway. After rebate of course.
