Video Card Problems?

Here's the deal:

My budget computer has been giving me problems (well its actually my pops computer) but on boot there is just a black screen, when turning the monitor off and then on again a "No video input" (something like that) shows up then the monitor will turn off. My Dad figured the video card was dead so he put another one in, still nothing, upgraded mobo as well. I tested the two video cards on my computer and both worked. I'm betting the mobo will also work. On boot fans run and everything seems to be normal. Anyone with any ideas?

Thanks in Advance

1) try booting up in Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key right when you know the first WindowsXP boot screen is about to appear. If it runs in Safe Mode, then you may just have the refresh rate set too high, in which case you should go through the motions of setting the display to a low resolution and use 60Hz refresh rate. Confirm the settings as if they really happened, then reboot and see if it can start normally.

2) if that didn't work, then can you post more details about the hardware 🙂

If that mobo has onboard video, check the BIOS settings; you may need to disable the onboard video before a video card will be recognized.
