well i am a hardcore counter-strike player and for some reason my video card will drop to less than 30 fps in game in gun fights. I used to do 99 steady untill my harddrive got corrupted. During this time i started over clocking my Video Card at first because i didnt realize it was a hard drive problem. I bought a new hard drive and it steadied it out only dropping to about 60-70 range but now it seems to have gotten worse. I started overclocking it again and it seems to help none. Do u think this could be linked with a problem in video card or that OC'ing took its toll on this poor videocards soul. O yeah it is a Asus 7700 GF2 GTS 32 mb ddr.

When you overclocked the video card, did you have proper cooling? Because if you didn't then yes, the OC'ing would have cooked the performance on the board.

could it be that your hd is really fragmented? when was the last time you did a defrag? also, access time on hds decreases a lot when they get really full of data.

I defrag and format pretty regularly. It was standard cooling on the video card but i didnt not push it to the max to overheat it but i am sure it still got pretty hot. Chances are i will upgrade to a geforce 3 and hopefully my fps will all be back to normal
