I really am having trouble with a radeon ve... dual display and all that good stuff....

I just got done building my first computer ever so it may be a me problem... but here it goes...

Comptuer: ECS K7S5A mobo
1.4GHZ T-Bird....
Win2k.. sp2

When i try to install the drivers for this ati radeon ve card I get this error."This display driver is not compatible with the display adapter(s) installed in your system."

I downloaded the latest drivers fro ati's web page... but im thinking it may be some problem that I havent fixed w/ the mobo or something.. I really have no idea... I know the card is not defective because i sent the first one i got back because of this dumb error and now im getting the same thing even w/ the second card. also, I have tried other video cards on this mobo... the ATI Rage IIC to be exact is the other one i tried and it worked just fine.. please.. anybody w/ a solution or any possible answers let me know... Thanks

Does win2k have native support for that card?

Are you letting it be installed, and then replacing it with the newest drivers?

Have you tried removing it from device manager, then rebooting and letting win2k re-detect it, and then , when prompted, installing the drivers? Or do the drivers only work as a setup.exe type of install?

Win2k doesnt even read or detect the card at all.. it doesnt go through the hardware setup wizard or nothing....

<< These probs are SIS 735-related. The bad boy is not fully compatible with Radeons. U should go VIA to slove the bug. I suggest the KT266a :) >>

can you give me a little bit more of an explanation?? you're telling me to get a different mobo?? or what?? cause thats not really an option here.. hehe.. thanks anyways if thats what you were saying... Also. is there some way to download something from ECS to fix this problem?? or no??

I?ve run a Radeon LE and currently running a AWI Radeon on a K7S5A with Win2k without any problems so I don?t think it?s your motherboard. I did see that error on a Dell using the 815 chipset but in Win98Se. The way around it was to manauly install the driver instead of using the setup routine.

Try this, go to device manager| display adaptors and under the driver tab for the vid card click update driver
Hit next and then chose ?Display list of known drivers for this device so I can chose a specific driver? hit next then "Browse". If you look on your C:\ drive there should a folder named ATI, and under that ATIdrive, (assuming you tried to use the setup routine and it unpacked the files before quiting with the error). I believe the file your going to need is atii2kag.inf. After that it?s just a matter of picking your card from the list.
