Video Card Problem

So my brother dropped his computer. I had to replace the case, hard drive, and perhaps the video card now.

The problem is that the card doesn't sit well in the slot, and I'm not sure if it's the connectors on the card itself or the motherboard. What I think happens is when the card goes under a high load and the fan starts spinning faster, it starts to shake and then turns off the computer.

The card is also getting very hot, like 120c. I am going to RMA it and not mention the falling incident, and hopefully get a new card. I even bought a slot fan to put underneath, which dropped the temps to about 105. My brother can't play Quake Wars or Call of Duty 4 for more than 1 hour because it shuts off on him.

I bought a Centurion 5 Case from Cooler Master and I put an extra fan on the side instead of the pipe funnel thing it had. All the other components in the computer run at normal temps, even under a full load.

What I am asking is if anyone has any input on what exactly might be wrong. I am planning to get a new card too. The 8800gt looks very nice but a little pricey considering the 1950xt has at least a couple years left or more in terms of running the latest games. Is there a card that is under 200$ that is a better buy right now than another 1950xt?

I thought it was overheating but now the computer is shutting off just when web browsing, so I am starting to think it is not connecting properly...

I need some help.

there are a million threads running right now about 8800gt and 38x0. 3850 is 185 shipped at newegg, it is much better than 1950xt. 3870 is 225 shipped at newegg when you can find it in stock, that card is light years better. In fact, it is 5-10% faster than 2900xt and is currently the fastest card from amd. 8800gt 512 will be a little bit out of your price range, but the 256 mb version should be available around dec 1 if you can wait that long and want to go nvidia. 8800gt 256 should be at least as fast as 3850 and probably a little bit faster for similar money.

if you want 3850 just follow this link. If you decide on 3870 then keep checking link, the 3870 has been in and out of stock for the past 24 hrs at newegg.
