Video card problem has me stumped

The other morning I woke up and turned on my monitor only to find I had "Invalid Sync" message. I rebooted and same thing, like the monitor wasnt getting any signal. I proceeded to remove all PCI cards and boot up with the same problem. To test the monitor I hooked it up to my laptop and it worked fine. At this point I figured the problem was either my mobo/AGP slot, or my vid card.

Next I took out my vid card, popped it into a friends PC and it booted up just fine.. ran great. So at this point I'm thinking the problem is my AGP slot on my mobo, just to double check I put my friends AGP card in my AGP slot and it booted up fine. Now I'm really stumped, My card worked fine in his mobo, and his card worked fine in my mobo, but my card is no longer working in my mobo. This same rig was working fine for about a year now, suddenly they dont work together. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

MOBO: Asus A7A-266
VID: Gainward Ti4600

Friends VID: Radeon 9600

How about... your friends comp. your video card and your monitor. "invalid sync" sounds like horiz and vertical sync and your refresh rates

Boot in safe mode and then switch video to 800*600 at 60 hz and reboot.

Ok, a few clarifications. "Invalid Sync" is a default message my monitor displays, I dont believe it has anything to do with an incorrect refresh rate from the card at this point, it also displays "Invalid Sync" if I totally unhook the VGA cable and attempt to turn on the monitor.

I can't boot in safe mode using my vid card in my mobo, because nothing is displayed on the monitor... I dont even see the post screen. I do believe the PC is posting because I am watching the HD activity post beeps. Only when my vid card is in my mobo is it as if there is no signal coming from the card.

The only thing I can think is perhaps its a power issue with the AGP slot on the mobo, perhaps my Ti4600 needs this extra power and my friends 9600 does not?
