Video Card Power - Damage?

I have an ati AIW 9800 pro , I was going to build a new computer soon.

My current power supply is 230w, AIW 9800pro says it should use a 300w + . Will I cause any sort of damage to the card? Will the card run slower in my new system (once built)?

Thanks,

ng

your only problem should be not enough power to the system, so perhaps it might crash or not start up or something like that, shouldn't be hurting anything though.

had a generic 300W power supply burn out with a 9700 pro. At the time had 2 hard drivers,DVD rom, CDR and 3 case fans. After installing 9700 pro it worked for a few weeks but started getting random reboots and finally the PSU burned out .... didnt damage any thing else
