video card performance issues

I recently purchaced a radeon x800 , everything seems to work and im getting great frame rates, but the problem is im experiencing little freezes, it looks kinda like a split second lag, for example it cod2 i could be getting 40 fps and all the sudden i'll get a split second freeze and then game continues fine, ive tried alot of games and the same thing happens, in fear i put all settings to medium and i was getting 80 fps and the game was unplayble cause i kept getting these little freezes.....with cod2 i barely get those freezes and the game was playable but its still annoying....with doom on high settings same thing, when i put everythingon medium the game played fine, not freezes that i noticed......bf 2 i got a few freezes in the begining but seemed like it went away after a while

quake 4 on medium same thing as fear, great frame rates but little freezes here and there, almost like lag.

when i saw freezes i dont mean it would freezes and reboot or get a bsod , just split second ones , and this only happens if i move around if i stay at one spot it dosnet do it

All i can think of is my power supply , its a antec 350 watt....

Im thinking of unplugging one of hardrives and then trying the games to see if that helps......

i was hopeing maybe someone could give me some advice

Are you sure it's not RAM releated. BF2 is known to have freezes if there's less than 1gb in the system...

Yep, BF2 is a ram hog, you are probably getting lag from hitting the page file. Go to the performance tab in task manager, look under Commit Charge (K). If the peak is higher than the amount of ram you have, you are hitting the page file, and thats causing your lag. BF2 really like having 2gb of ram.

I do have 512 ram , so u guys think that could be it ? the thing is if i add more ram i probably should put a bigger psu cause i already have 2 hardrives and a fan .....

i did unhook on of my hardrives and tried playing fear and got the same problems..

BF2 with only 512mb of ram, yeah, 99.99% chance that is your problem right there..

your total ram is 512MB and the computer in that screenshot is using ~800MB so that means that 300MB is written to the hdd and swapped back and forth into the ram. ram is fast and hdds are slow so there is your slowdown/freeze.

so basicly in plain english i need more ram ? lol should i replace my psu anyway or will my current psu be able to handle an additional 512 ram possbly another GB ? l

you should be ok with the 350W as i ran a p4 2.8C, scsi hdds and a x800xtpe on mine before i switched to my current one. but yes you do need more ram, you could get by with another 512MB - look at my bf2 ram usage article in my sig
