Went to bad lastnight turned my monitor off like I've done a hundred times again and when I woke up this morning it was not receiving a signal. So I tried a different monitor and two different video cards still nothing. I have never had this problem before.

Whats the next step and please don't say different motherboard!!! Or at least thats not what I can handle right now. I don't want to spend the time or money. So someone out there has to have this problem. Here are the system specs that pertain to this problem:
Epox 8KHA+ motherboard
Mag 796FD Monitor
ATI video card tried a couple flavors

Any ideas welcomed

Ok I'm down to looking for replacing my motherboard since I'm assuming its that but really don't know since it could be the cpu but don't really know how to tell that without another of either and I do not have access to any.

What I need is a suggestion on a motherboard to replace my Epox 8kha+. My cpu is a Athlon XP 1700 I believe but I could be wrong. I don't want to spend alot since I don't know how much I will be using my desktop in the near future.

The dilemna I'm having is if its the CPU thats the problem then I might as well get a new MB too and upgrade to the Athlon 64 system. So if anyone wants to suggest a way I could figure this out I would be very interested.

So suggest a MB that goes with my current CPU for an affordable price. I use my computer for VB .NET programming general comp use and common media use.

memory reseat = nothing
So am I to the point that I have to assume that I need to try a different motherboard?
How does a system act if a process is not functioning?

Thanks for the help

is your mobo speaker plugged in? are there beeps? got another cpu to put in there? how about PSU? if nothing else is the problem, its gotta be the mobo. check everything else first. hopefully you have a lot of frieds that will let you borrow hardware. try the clear CMOS jumper.
