Video Card noob question

Nab

Senior member
I was looking on newegg for a video card and came across "connect3d" and "saphire" infront of the radeon video card names. What does that mean? Is there any difference, should I even be concerned about that? Thanks in advance for your help.

Sapphire makes very good cards. I don't know anything about the quality of Connect3d, but I'm thinking that if it were a good brand, like Sapphire, more people would own it.

Can anyone else name some good companies? I don't really understand how the companies work if ATI is the REAL company that produces/sells them.

ATI makes the chipsets, sapphire probably makes the card itself using ATI technology. Not positive, but that's usually how it works. 😉
