My wifes computer is now up and running smoothly thanks to these forums. Currently wife is using the intel hd 4600 built into the haswell cpu.
I was thinking of getting her a gtx 560Ti 2gb for under £120. But if I squeeze my budget by another £20 I could get the gtx 660 2 gb or the Radeon 7850.
The primary graphical demanding ap will be warcraft (maybe Rome 2 but I doubt I would be allowed).
Would the extra £20 well more like £25 be worth the expense.

Intel i5 -4570
MSI H87m-g43
Corsair 8gb DDR3 1600 Vengeance Kit
Seagate 1Tb Barracuda
CIT Black Edition 500w

The 660 and 7850 would be better not only for performance but also power usage.

Have link to where you buy from in the UK?

Warcraft 3 or WoW? I'm sure integrated will provide an adequate experience with WC3. You might even be able to run WoW well enough.

At the same price as a 7850, the 660 is generally a faster card stock vs stock. You get a nice bundle with the 7850 (which I sold on ebay) and I believe once overclocked, the gap closes. Here in the states, you usually see 7850's significantly cheaper.

The 660 is about 33% faster than the 560Ti, plus it's more power efficient, so I'd say the extra $$ is justified.

WOW, this is wife's computer she wants to see EVERYTHING on full detail. It does run wow but she is complaining already she cant see distance like she used to on her gt 240 card.

The 7850 costs more in the uk looking at them.

The 660 and 7850 are close enough that for me it would come down to price.

What resolution? You can probably use a 1Gb card if trying to save a few bucks.

7850 1gb $123

7850 2gb $140

660 2gb $143

The 7850 comes with 2 games so that may win over the 660.

do NOT try and save a miniscule amount of money by going with a 1gb card at this point.

OP for less than 150 pounds the MSI 7870 is unbeatable. HD 7870 is faster than GTX 660 and scales much better with overclocking. on par with GTX 580 perf.

try and get the HD 7870 card to 1.2 ghz and you have a card which will be on par with GTX 660 Ti and atleast 50% faster than your current GTX 560 Ti .

this. totally.

Edit: I wish my GTX460 1GB cards were really 2GB. I would have paid $50 extra for a 2GB model, had they been available.

Hmm, now that I think about it, I think that the Palit GTX460 in my 1045T rig is 2GB. I'll have to check. Now if I only had two 2GB cards for SLI, I would be golden.
