i just bought a 6600gt and im having problems with it.......i installed the latest drivers for it , but when i play king kong the game starts up fine but while in the middle of the game it freezes then reboots my pc........

i was having problems with AOE 3 and call of duty demo.....

when i had the old drivers installed call of duty 2 demo would freeze for a few second then start working again....when i installed the latest drivers the problem so far appeared to go away .....but then aoe 3 started freezing for a few seconds then started working again , with the new drivers......

i called up evga and i basicly ended up talking to an idiot.....he said its probably the card overheating, then i tell him that ive been checking the temperatures and their fine so then hes like the memory is bad just send it back lol ......i knew better so i called evga today again and talked to someone else.....

he recomended me a program called "driver cleaner" and updating my chipset drivers........ so i did that and also defragged my hardrive

AOE so far appears to be fine, so does the call of duty demo , even though i havent played them too much....

the king kong game is the same ******.

I bought a radeon x700 about a week ago and installed it and had no problems at all , not a single problem, but i returned it cause i was told the 6600gt was better.....

what can i do at this point ? do u think i should just send it back ? is there a way to test the memory ?

Did you do a complete uninstall of the ati drivers? Check in add remove programs that driver and control panel are gone then boot into safemode and run driver cleaner selecting ATI. Give that a try and if it contnues then uninstall nvidia drivers, boot into safemode and run driver cleaner for nvidia. Then reinstall driver. Give that a try and if it still continues my guess is your power supply is inadequate.
What psu and size do u have? I doubt it is the cards fault on this problem.

same thing happened with aoe 3 that happens to king kong....at this point i think im just gonan return it
