Video card / mobo recommendations?

I've got an ECS K5s7a and an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro video card. I'm seeing wavy lines all over my monitor and they seem to grow in severity the longer the system is running.

I had a similar problem with a previous monitor (same mobo / video card) and I once read that there was a problem with ATI video cards and ECS mobos, though I can't remember what exactly the issues were.

Can anyone recommend a decent (doesn't have to be awesome) video card I could use with the mobo, without having to spend an arm and a leg (valued currently at about $30 each)??

Or... if the card's not the problem, maybe someone cound recommend a relatively inexpensive motherboard?'

Thanks.

have you even tested the card in another system? or another card with that mobo to see which exactly needs replacement?

the shuttle an35n ultra at newegg for 62 shipped is a good deal for a amd mobo on a budget, better mobo overall...would be better than getting a cheap video card for a cheap mobo anyway :)

unfortunately, I'm living in a world where I have but one PC. One motherboard... one video card. If I had another video card to test with this motherboard, I would. If I had motherboard to test with this video card, I would.

But alas, 'tis not the case. :-(

I definitely recall that the problem did not surface until I got this mobo. This same video card did not cause the problem on my previous motherboard (no, I don't have that mother board anymore). It only started happening when I "upgraded" to the ECS mobo.

My biggest question is this: does anyone know for sure that there's a known problem with combining ATI video cards with ECS motherboards? I'm pretty sure I can solve the problem by replacing one or the other.... but which????

Thanks. :)

hmm, I wasn't aware of a problem. I'm running K7S5A with Radeon 8500 just fine.

Maybe you could check ocworkbench.
or rage3d
I'm too lazy. :D

Search the archives. Ocworkbench has lots of posts about that board.
Good luck!

try ur current graphic card on any of ur friends mobo. see what is defective . u won't get a gud mobo in 30$, a really cheap one with not great performance or facility for OCing.
A gud performance & OCable mobo comes over 50-60$ by Asus(A7N8somethin Delux is a gud one & i haven't heard any problem with it),gigabyte,MSI, etc.

radeon 9200 is for around 40-45$
radeon 9600 for 70$(gigabyte,saphire,hercules etc.)

geforce fx 5200 for 45-55$(not worth it)
geforce fx 5600 for under 80$(think so)
