Video card loose in slot.

My video card (Radeon 9700 Pro) is always loose in its slot and often in games it will act up producing weird lines on the screen, its not overheating either since when I lift it up a little bit on one edge it fixes it, so I put in a pencil sharpened to just the right length to hold it up... theres got to be a more professional way to do this. I have tried different cases, and it did this in my old mobo too. Also when not in game it causes my screen to go really green and when I lift it it goes back to the normal colour. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its not under warrenty anymore 🙁... But yes it has always done this, and I have tried more than one motherboard and it still does it.

Hi, I assume you are concerned that the card wiggles right an left in the socket. The mechanical dimension of the socket is a small amount wider than the correct thickness of the board. Both the socket and the board thickness have a tolerance. If the board goes to the low end and the socket to the high end the board will move back and forth. When you screw the bracket to the case there will be little or no movement. The contacts are designed to make good contact regardless of the mechanical fit. Maybe this will help. Jim
