Video card lock ups

Whenever I try to play games they freeze(i.e. Dues Ex, Motocross Madness 2,Re-Volt, ect). I have the detonator 3 drivers installed for my video card and the latest drivers for my sound card and DirectX 7a. I can't figure out whats making them lock up. Thanks for any help.

My voodoo 3 2000 did the same thing in Madden 2000. What I had to do was by a fan for it. It was getting hot adn locking up. I went to www.3dfxcool.com. They are sort of expensive, so I would make sure that is what it is.
