Video Card Issues

I bought a Geforce FX 5200 the other day, and the Nvidia demos would get an error and crash when i tried to start them and also some of my games would do the same thing. So I went and returned it and got a FX 5500 OC and I'm still having the same problems. I've tried different drivers, installed DX 9.0 C, and set up the BIOS the way the install manual says. I have also looked around on both Nvidia's and BFG's websites and haven't found anything that would help.

My comp stats:
Athlon 1 Ghz
512 MB PC-2100 RAM
Soyo SY-K7V Dragon board
XP Pro w/SP 2

If anyone has come across this problem before of has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

I think you should check your power supply...... are you using a reputable brand with plenty of overhead?

FX5200/5500 couldn't eat much power. Besides, crashing after some time could point to that. Not running is a software issue.

What demo you trying to run? These cards don't support UltraShadow which could be the problem.

Its a 350W Deer that came with my case.

I was trying to run the Dawn and Ogre demos that came with the card. But it has also crashed when I ran Jedi Knight 2, KOTOR, and Planetside. The games have only crashed a couple of times, but those demos crash every time I try to launch them. 😕

LOL I just got off the phone with BFG tech support, and after trying different drivers and playing with my BIOS, like I've been doing, they told me I had to reinstall Windows. :Q Those bastards
