Video card issue:Direct Draw and Direct 3d progs freeze my comp

Ive had this problem eversince i got my Geforce MX 64MB. Any programs that use Direct Draw or Direct 3d freeze my comp.
WIN 2k PRO SP 3
256 Mb crucial ram
Biostar m7mke mobo
Hercules prophet II mx 400 64mb driver version 21.81
Soundblaster live
kingston NIC

Im thinking its some sort of conflict, anyone know how to fix this?

I would do 2 things...
First off I would go start/run/ type in dxdiag and run the tests under display... ie test direct draw and test d3d
if you get any errors.. disable them and restart your machine.. the run dxdiag again and enable them

secondly the drivers you are using are atleast a year old... go to www.nvidia.com and dl the latest detonator drivers.

with any luck installing the latest drivers will fix your problem

and reinstall dx 8.1

That link isnt working for me. I did what you said to do in my other post in the Video forum by getting the WHQL drivers adn the 4.40 4in1s, also reinstalled directx 8.1 it helped because the program doesnt freeze right away anymore, it takes like 10 seconds. Ive had this problem so long if anyone have any more suggestions , thanks
